Web has plenty of resources when it comes to news, politics and current events and issues. There are so many sites and blogs sometimes its just hard to choose which one to read and which one to pass. As we were reading some news and keeping up with politics we decided to share sites and blogs that we use to gather information to stay informed.
Below are 10 sites that we use to stay informed on everything from world politics to national events. Each site includes a brief description. However, these 10 sites aren’t the only one that we use but given that its a Sunday we thought we would save the extensive list for some other day.

AlterNet : This news portal compiles news from independent news media sources, such as underground papers, alternative weeklies and investigative journalists to provide readers with news that is mostly ignored by the mainstream media.

Huffington Post : A very popular group blog created by columnist Arianna Huffington whose celebrity status has helped her to bring in high profiled contributors such as Barbra Streisand to post their opinion and views on politics, news and culture. A very influential source for political news on the web.

Current Events : A news website that posts news feeds compiled by the World News Network. Readers can catch up on the latest news from all around the world.

Government Executive : An online magazine for management level government employees. This site includes blogs and directories as well.

Project On Government Oversite (POGO) : This blog investigates corruption and misconduct at the Federal level. The POGO blog covers the latest news on the organization’s activities and investigations.

Instapundit : This is the blog maintained by Glenn Reynolds. This blog covers everything but mostly individual liberty and technology. A lot of people who don’t agree with Reynolds still read his blog due to his quick, smart and funny posts.

Crooks and Liars : This particular site concentrates on the television news media. It uses clever headlines and captions to mock live news reports and debates from Fox news, CNN, and international broadcasters.

The Raw Story : Another news site that focuses on news and issues that is often ignored by the mainstream media. If you are looking to find the uncut version of the truth when it comes to politics and other issues this might be the site you want to read.

WorldPress : This website reprints articles written by journalists outside of the United States to foster a broader exchange of ideas and perspective. Also they are currently looking for a part time Web Editor. If you are someone who has interest in international press a try might be worth the effort.

Daily Kos : One of the post popular politics ( liberal ) blog on the internet which is hosted by blogger Markos Moulitsas Zungia offers quotes, useful links and insightful articles about the war, terrorism and hypocritical world leaders.

Huffingtonpost is full of sensationalist junk. Half of what it posts are mere rumors or exaggerations, and some are outright lies. Don’t get me wrong, I find myself leaning the same way as many of the articles posted to the site. I’m just not dumb enough to take it all at face value.
