36 IE Plug Ins To Keep It Fresh and Breathing

When we started Net Hackz, we promised you that we would start out with a series on popular browser plug ins. So far we have provided you with Firefox plug-ins and Safari add-ons. Today we bring you some of the best plug-ins for one of the most hated yet one of the most popular browser - Internet Explorer.

With more than 70 % of market share, Internet Explorer rules the market of the browsers and even though it’s so popular it’s less known for the available plug-ins. There are many plug-ins or assisting software available for Internet Explorer that makes it powerful and safer (which unfortunately, isn’t by default; although, things have changed tremendously in the latest version i.e. IE 7).

1. Trixie : If you are looking for the features of Greasemonkey for IE then this plugin will act as a savior for you. Although, not all Greasemonkey scripts work on it because IE & Firefox handle things differently. However, these scripts work on it flawlessly.

   Note : Phishtank sitechecker is an excellent script which will work with Trixie and will keep you safe as far as Phishing is concerned.

2. Haute Secure : If you are looking to safe guard your computer from various attacks on the internet, then this plugin will help you tremendously. Feel free to browse the web safely when this plugin is on and believe me, it works!

3. StumbleUpon : This toolbar is extremely useful when you are getting bored and trust me you will always come across some of the most wonderful pages on the internet. It can be addictive and we featured it on our Firefox add-on post as well. It’s just one of the most wonderful and addictive plug-in ever created.

4. PicLens : We are glad we featured this plug-in in our Safari plug-ins post . The way it helps you go through the images and YouTube videos is so cool that you literally fall in love with it. Piclens for Internet Explorer will make you fall in love with IE as well.

5. Medium : If you tink only Flock can help you become social then you have to take a look at this one. Me.dium is an excellent plugin that helps you find what your friends are surfing and lets you easily access various features of Facebook too.

6. IE7Pro : If you want to make all the Firefox fans jealous then this plugin will do the needful. You can showcase any feature that a Firefox user flaunts. The feature list is so long that we just couldn’t dare to mention it here.

7. Google Toolbar : This version gets the newest and the best features when ever Google releases any update. Even the Firefox version gets updated a little late than IE version. It’s got pop up blocker, power of Google search and similar features.

8. Web Of Trust : This service has released the plug-in for IE which alerts you about websites that have been marked as harmful or been rated as safe to visit. It displays the info for sites you visit and the sites displayed in search results as well. It’s much like Mcafee’s Siteadvisor.

9. KeyScrambler Personal : We all know that there are many keyloggers available on the internet and many Trojan horses try to steal your keystrokes and of course everyone understands how crucial it can be. This plug-in encrypts all the keystrokes at keyboard driver level (of course, it can’t take care of hardware based keyloggers).

10. Video Download : If you like to download videos for offline viewing then you can always use this plug-in to download the videos. It works with lot of video hosting services which includes – Google Videos, YouTube, Metacafe and others..

11. TorrentSeek : If you love to use torrents frequently then this toolbar will help you reach them much faster. Apart from that it can act as notifier for your email, act as a chat application and lot more.

12. Free Music Zilla : This isn’t a plug-in, however, this wonderful software helps you download songs from various social music discovery sites like Pandora, Last.fm, eSnips, Myspace and others.

13. QPedia : This excellent plug-in gives the power and the world of knowledge at just one right click. You can highlight any word and search about it on WikiPedia.

14. Advanced IE History Bar : This plug-in lets you take control of the pages you’ve visited in the past. If you have ever wondered what was that page you visited few days back but can’t find it easily through the default IE history, then this plug-in will surely attract you.

15. PricePirates : This wonderful program helps you by ensuring that you are bidding for a product on e-bay by comparing the bidding price with the retail price of the product to make sure that you don’t get ripped off. It’s a great tool for all e-bay users.

16. GripIE : Have you been to those sites where the images are so cool that you want to download them all or may be a webpage with hundreds of links to those awesome MP3’s? Well, if that’s the case this small and quick plug-in will help you download them quickly. It’s an ajax based extension which lets you get access to the media files quickly on the web pages.

17. Password Scrambler : If you are interested in keeping your passwords safe and want to have a password manager then Password Scrambler is the solution. It works seamlessly with IE and does the task well.

18. Fleck : This is a web annotation service and plug-in which allows you to annotate the web and share it with your friends. You can literally post messages on the webpage and the other person doesn’t even need any software to view the annotation done by you and no signups are required either.

19. FoxyTunes : This Firefox hit has been ported to IE as well and easily lets you change the audio tracks, forward them and manage all media player controls directly from the browser. So while browsing, you won’t have to bring your favorite audio player just to increase the volume.

20. MXPlay : This is another wonderful plug-in which finds the audio content on the web and lets you play and share it with your friends.

21. Del.icio.us toolbar : When it comes to del.icio.us, I’m all up for it and be it any browser it has to be one of the best add-ons. Simple fact is that it lets you store your bookmarks online and keeps them in sync with your browser, so you don’t have to worry about losing them in any case.

22. IE Developer Toolbar : If you are a web developer and want to ensure that the web page works perfectly fine on Internet Explorer then this toolbar is for you.

23. ColorPic : Like many other listed options, this isn’t a dedicated plug-in for IE. It’s basically an application which works with IE too. It easily picks colors and it can pick colors from web pages as well. It’s pretty small and useful and that’s exactly why it hits this list.

24. ProxyWay Free : You can use ProxyWay proxy management software to integrate it with IE and this will allow you to surf the web anonymously.

25. Video Detecter : This add-on lets you easily download flash videos from various video sharing websites.

26. InLine Search : It makes a small search bar when you press CTRL+F and lets you find the words on the webpage without opening a “Find” dialogue. It’s similar to the find function of Firefox.

27. ShareThis : For all you social media junkies, this plugin will easily help you in sharing various news stories with your friends through various social media sites like Digg, Stumble, Reddit etc.

28. ZamZar Convert : This wonderful add-on helps you easily convert files from one format to another and that too without the need of downloading any software. It’s a javascript button which you can easily use to convert the files using Zamzar service.

29. IeSpell : If you are a non-english speaker then you will love this plug-in as it spell checks even in the text boxes and that too without the need of Microsoft office applications. It’s one of the most renowned plug-in for IE.

30. IESessions : If you have lot of tabs open for your research and you need to close your computer because your boss wants you to concentrate on something else, then this add-on will help you save that session, so that you can continue with it at a later stage.

31. Quero ad blocker : This toolbar replaces the default navigation bar of IE and also has the power to block ads. Not only does it save the valuable screen space but also helps you surf the web in peace.

32. Feeds Plus : A product from the IE RSS team but is still unsupported as it’s not official release from Microsoft. This plug-in keeps you away from installing a feed reader as it makes IE as a full-fledged feed reader in itself.

33. Mouse Gestures : If you envy opera users just because they have mouse gestures then there is no need to get jealous anymore as this plug-in helps you in making full use of you little mouse while surfing the web through IE.

34. Open Last Closed Tab : If you accidently closed any tab and wanted to reopen it, then you are out of luck because IE doesn’t give you that option, however, this add-on lets you easily open up to 200 closed tabs.

35. Alias : If you are looking to open lot of websites with just two keystrokes then this plug-in is what you need. It can help you create various alias and help you become a power surfer.

36. Power copier : I know that’s not the name of this plug-in however I thought that it will be a better name for this plug-in. It helps you copy the text as plain text or simply the way it’s formatted. Really helpful in many situations.
