I have long been a Palm user. My current phone is a Palm 750wx and for some reason I feel a little out of loop when it comes to being “hip” and mobile productive. Palm has been beaten to death lately by other mobile handsets but looks like Palm is back in the game with its latest phone Palm Pre. Palm unveiled their latest product at the CES and I have to say, it certainly seems like the mobile phone for the next generation.
Here are some of the specifications (via treocentral) followed by images,
High-speed wireless (EV-DO Rev. A or HSDPA, depending on version)

2008 has been a blast for us. We launched MarketingHackz first and then Nethackz and both blogs went off the roof in few short months. We knew we could make it happen but it sure did exceed our expectations. We launched Nethackz in June and since then we have come a long way. You guys have been a constant source of inspiration for us to grow and without you, our readers, we wouldn’t exist. One of the things that really hit us hard on 2008 was being listed on autobury on digg. Everyone knows that Digg is a “traffic house” and we certainly hit it hard when we first started and after that BAM! we were out of picture. We tried a couple times after that just to make sure and confirm and I think it is confirmed that we have been put under autobury but then again its Digg, you never know what the deal is.
Getting banned from digg although hurt us a little, it opened up other opportunities. We moved from focusing creating articles solely for traffic and turned Nethackz more into a tech info blog and since then we have been rolling like a powerhouse. The subscriber numbers have grew and we have been mentioned by BBC. That certainly was the highlight of 2008 for us. There are not a whole lot of blogs that can say they were mentioned by BBC’s editorial team within such a short amount of time and we are proud that we can .
While we say goodbye to the year 2008, we would like to thank all our readers and especially Jason for bringing us all together by creating a platform for us. With each post and each comment we get a little closer to building a community and with over 300 posts the Nethack staff have certainly worked hard in keeping this blog going.
We wish you a very Happy New Year. We hope to see you around next year. Have fun, party hard and throw the keys before you start drinking. If you lose the key you can always get a new one. Be safe out there and we will wait for you in 2009.
Before we get started with this post we would like to admit that we are a little lazy today. We are not lazy just for the sake of it but because there are tons of things going on. Still have to wrap the presents, cook a nice Christmas Eve meal and need to spend some time with friends and family. However, this certainly doesn’t mean that we are going to totally ignore our blog today. Nethackz readers have become a part of family and as a gift we would like you to relax and enjoy some good tech related links that we found on the web.
The links above should last 3 cups of eggnog. We would like to wish our readers a very Merry Christmas. Hope you get all your gadgets and toys that you wished for. We will be back on Friday until then enjoy your friends and family and the gadgets and toys and make sure to stop by and let us know what you got .
We started Twitter Week on Monday which ends today. This entire week Nethackz writers talked about nothing but twitter. While going through the posts I did come across some that I didn’t know about before. With so many applications and services related to Twitter, I know we missed quite a few of them. But we sure do hope that you enjoyed the posts and hopefully we were able to introduce you to some that weren’t known to you before.
Twitter has become such a phenomenon on the web that it is amazing. People sharing each others views, opinions and sharing expertise in one platform is certainly amazing. Especially with the 140 character restriction its amazing to see how well people make use of words and still are able to convey messages effectively. I just wanted to quick highlight all the posts here from this week just in case you missed them. Here we go,
I would like to thank Nethackz staff for focusing on twitter alone this week and going with my crazy idea. I am sure they were tempted to write about other things. Although I liked all the apps that were discussed my personal favorites are Tweetlater and Twitter Fan Wiki. Also just cause the Twitter week is over doesn’t mean we won’t be discussing twitter anymore here on Nethackz. With everything going on with Twitter and each day new services coming out, we will certainly be discussing Twitter quite often here on Nethackz. Meanwhile, if you would like to follow us on twitter, please click on the links below,
Hope you guys are all in a great holiday spirit. If you like snow (I live in Minnesota) and barely get any where you live I would be happy to trade spaces with you until the winter is over .
This has been a long time coming. Each week Nethackz staff can’t seem to avoid not writing something related to Twitter and their post usually goes somewhere along this line ” we have been trying to avoid…..” Today we had a little talk and we decided we would dedicate an entire week to Twitter. Forget the avoiding part, Twitter has become such a powerful tool in online communication there is no reason to avoid it.
Starting Monday we will be bringing you anything and everything related to Twitter. Twitter apps, mobile twitter apps and everything that we think might be of use to you. Twitter certainly has become quite an integral part of my online social life. I use it not only for fun and to engage in conversation but also to connect with potential clients and it certainly is one of the best online communication and networking tool that I have seen in a long time. Although there are many others out there, at this point I think Twitter beats them hands down.
If you haven’t already subscribed to Nethackz go ahead and click “Get RSS Updates” to stay updated on Twitter application and a whole lot of other things that will be coming next week. Until then have a good weekend and if you are already on twitter don’t forget to follow Hackznetwork on twitter. We have all been using our individual twitter accounts but it was time we started one collectively.
I just got my feet wet on SlideShare couple days ago and that is the reason why “Just Google It” was embedded here on Nethackz. Usually I am pretty quick in jumping in social bandwagon but for some reason I had been holding off to this new platform, not sure why. Anyway I am in and I am enjoying it quite a bit. I can see myself using slideshare often.
While I was bragging about slideshare on gtalk to one of my friends, he mentioned that SlideShare is “YouTube of Presentations,” I would have to say that the comparison is pretty accurate. You can tell that I am just in love with it. Enough of my rambling lets get on with what it is all about.
SlideShare is a service that lets you upload your presentations online so you can share them over the web. You can either make it private or public. Public enables your presentation to be seen by the entire community as they please. I think this service is really handy for students and professionals alike during presentations. There are days when your computer suddenly dies or something else happens and you can’t show your presentation that you have worked so hard for. Well, the simple solution : put it on slideshare and if nothing works log in and present your idea to the masses.
The key to this service is your idea, views or whatever it is that you are trying to present isn’t limited to a certain number of people. Depending on what you present and how you present you have a chance to create a presence within this community. SlideShare also lets other users embed your presentation which gives more exposure to you if they use it on their blogs or their profile, etc.
All in all, I think this is a great service and if you haven’t used it yet, I urge you to give it a try.
I know the Nethackz staff have been saying that we are trying to keep it low when it comes to Twitter, but it is just impossible with everything that is somehow related to Twitter on the web. They are literally growing like mushrooms. Twitters apps, Twitter clones and everything else. If you are an active Twitter user you know exactly what I am talking about.
With the death of Pownce, more users will be looking for other microblogging platforms and twitter definitely will be the one they choose. However, a new service seems to have been quite popular among microbloging fans. 12Seconds is a service that lets users explore another aspect of blogging – micropodcasting. Yup, that’s exactly what it is “micropodcasting.” Just like Twitter, 12Second allows users to share their views but instead of text limitations you get time limitation and you actually get to be seen and not just read.
I recently joined this site and all in all I have been enjoying it. I haven’t been using the site actively yet but I think besides Twitter this will be the one I will be quite active on. It all depends on how popular they get and what kind of benefits I can get out of it in terms of exposure. Remember, everything is a number. The more the better.
12Second gives you exactly 12seconds to say what you have to say. I like the whole Twitter’s text limit and 12Second’s time limit cause if you can say more in less, that is definitely helpful. It also allows you to embed your 12 second video so you can share it on your blog and what not. Here is a video I made the day I joined 12second.
By the way, I had a few beers down before I made the video so it is kind of goofy ,
One more thing, the service is currently available only through invitation. If you think this might be something you would like to check out, please leave your email address in your comments and we will send you an invite. Please make sure to leave your email address in this format : email(at)ritubpant(dot)com.
I am quite hesitant to even buy a bottled water from a vending machine because they are priced quite high. When it comes to gadgets and gizmos, vending machines certainly aren’t the vendors that I am looking for. On my way to California I seen these vending machines at the airport and I just couldn’t help but think who exactly would buy these from a vending machine? Would you be willing to swipe your card for 200 dollars and up at a vending machine? Let me know cause I am not sure if I have just become that big of a tightwad or is it something that has now become quite popular among people – spending hundreds of dollars at a vending machine.
As most of you already know the financial capital of India, Mumbai recently came under terrorist attack. If you haven’t heard of it yet it might be a good idea to check the latest news as to what is going on in regards to this attack through major news sources and of course on twitter. If you want news on Mumbai terrorist attack through Twitter please use this search keyword “#mumbai” on Twitter Search.
As of now it has been reported that 125 people have died and more than 300 are injured as a result of this terrorist attack. These attacks were mostly targeted towards Westerners, mainly Americans and Europeans. The web has become such a powerful source of information and it provides a platform for citizen to become journalists and provide information first hand. A guy named “Vinu” is the prime example of citizen journalism. Please check out the images taken by him after the attacks. For more pictures please visit the source link at the end of this post.
Of course there are more images on the web. We wanted to point these out because they are the prime example of what citizen journalism can do in today’s day and age. We don’t have to wait for big media channels to give us the scoop anymore. The power to bring information is truly in our hand if we dare to do it.
