One of the most useful and yet often evil things about surfing on the Internet is the amount of data that can be collected on a person. Their habits, history, preferences — all of these factors can be tracked and applied in different ways to make you a target, whether it be a target of advertisers or a target of hackers.
It is estimated that 90% of all computers are infected with some form of spyware that may track keystrokes, allowing criminals to learn passwords and bank account numbers—essentially giving them access to anything and everything on your computer.
None of us ever really believe identity theft will happen to us but that is precisely what happened to over 10 million people last year alone. To say that we are at risk is an understatement. There are elite groups of cyber criminals forming in the far corners of the globe targeting consumers and businesses online.
This is staggering information. There are advantages and disadvantages:
Advantage: They don’t get your data
Disadvantage: Some websites will not work properly without your data
Advantage: Your history is yours to keep or erase
Disadvantage: Some of the nice features and convenience that cookies and IP tracking offer are gone
Advantage: They don’t get your data
Okay, so it was technically a tie, but we count the top and bottom one twice. Protect yourself. It’s cheap!
Painting, sketching is something that I just haven’t been able to master. Whether its on a piece of paper or the computer itself, I am bad at it and of course I have never really tried to master it but even if I did I can guarantee I wouldn’t be able to. Its amazing how some people are so efficient at creating art with paintbrushes and well, with their fingers on an iPhone.
Please check the video below to see a demonstration of the Brushes app for iPhone/iTocuh. Its amazing how well someone can create an interesting piece of art simply by moving their fingers on a screen.
Before we carry on any further for those who don’t know what OLED is, it stands for Organic Light Emitting Diode. Sony’s XEL-1 OLED TV was awarded grand award as the innovation of the year in the entertainment category by PopSci. This television by Sony also happens to be the world’s first OLED TV. One of the things that most people might ask is why is the screen size only 11 inches? The reason why the screen size is so small is because OLED circuitry requires a special type of glass that isn’t produced in large sizes, at least not yet but we are sure that will change pretty soon. Below are some of the specifications of Sony’s OLED TV,

This is a pretty neat service! As usual on my quest to find something out of the ordinary and useful I came across this site mosio which lets you text a question using your mobile phone and you can get upto four answers. Yes, you do have friends and families to help you out with your queries but I can bet they don’t know answers to all the questions you have.
These questions are answered by real people who are referred to as QnAgents. You might think the service is pretty silly as you can have answers through google mobile and other app but as far as I know google mobile wont help you answer ” What is the most beautiful country in the world?”, yeah its silly but sometimes its just plain fun. Think of having an argument with a friend or a colleague and nobody can help you answer the question, this is when Mosio service comes in handy.
Before you can use this service you will have to check if this service is available for your phone. I have my service through Sprint so it was available and as far as I can see they have all the major carriers so you shouldn’t have a problem. Here is the link to test your phone, test my phone
To try it out text a question ( anything ) to qna@mosio.com and get 4 free answers by real people. Let me know through your comments how your experience was, as for me it was fun and its just another service that I learned about. Ohh and it also works with Twitter.
While surfing the web (we have the coolest job ever) I came across a link which showed percentage of people that are quite dependent on the internet. Since internet is how I earn my bread and butter it is of utmost importance to me that I have access to it. But if it was for mere pleasure I think I could live without it. I will never know though cause I am not sure if I ever will be out of an internet connection unless I go build a shack somewhere in a jungle where there are no internet services. I mean you can pretty much have access to internet anywhere in the world.
According to a study conducted by Harris Interactive 65% of U.S. adults say they cannot live without internet connection. And the most saddening thing is the fact that women are more into internet than sex. Yes, it is pretty sad. I guess for the first time sex is beaten by another activity. If I had to vote between sex and the internet my vote would go to sex at any point in my life, I think. Check out the graphs below,
Here we are once again with another cool Twitter service. There are so many twitter apps out there that some are completely useless and doesn’t serve any purpose whatsoever. Yesterday, while we were busy tweeting we came across a link that caught our eye. Twiffid is a pretty cool application that lets you track what your twitter friends are blogging about. Tiffid basically allows you to see what your twitter friends’ current posts are on their blog without having to visit their blog from the profile itself.
If you are a digg user or reddit user you know how important the title of a story is. This service can help these twitter users levitate traffic to their blog by giving them one more platform. The service is pretty simple to use. As with most twitter clients login using your twitter username and password.
Once you are logged in you will be able to see all your twitter friend’s latest blog posts titles. Just click on it and you will be at their blog reading that particular post.
I personally think that this service has a lot of potential. Its kind of like a feed reader so to speak where all the new blogposts written by your Twitter friends are updated regularly. If you happen to use this service, let us know what you think.
If you are a big Gmail fan and someone who needs to be constantly reminded what needs to be done, then this might be something for you. As we all know Gmail Labs consistently comes up with something new to make their users happy. This time they have come up with a “to-do-list” which is integrated in Gmail. It is called “tasks” and allows you to add reminders and well things-to-do.
This is helpful for people that are heavy Gmail users. I am not very big on gmail for some unknown reason. I am not sure why I didn’t get into it as much like everybody else. Yeah go ahead and count me out from the cool kids bunch .
To activate the “tasks” on gmail, follow these steps :
Sign in to your gmail account
On the top right hand side click on “setting”
Click on that tab that says “Labs”
Enable Tasks and click save changes
The task link sits right under contacts on the left sidebar. To start using it simply click on it and you will have your own to-do-list on gmail.
Firefox happens to be one of the best browsers out there. I am myself a firefox user and one of the reason I enjoy it so much is because of all the addons and plugins that are available for it. Its amazing how much time a simple add on can save when it comes to getting things done. Of course other browsers support plug ins but I am sure nothing beats Firefox currently. I am still using the last version of Firefox and although the new version is out I think I am going to wait for a while. When I downloaded the version I am using right now, I had quite a few problems but it seems to be working fine now.
Mozilla recently released the latest version of Firefox and it is all ready to be downloaded. Some of the key features of the new version are listed below :
This beta is now available in 54 languages
Added a new Private Browsing Mode aka “porn mode”.
Added functions to make it easy to clear recent history by time as well as remove all traces of a website.
New support for web worker threads.
The new TraceMonkey JavaScript engine is on by default for web content.
Improvements to the Gecko layout engine, including speculative parsing for faster content rendering.
Removed the new tab-switching behavior based on feedback from users
Support for new web technologies such as the <video> and <audio> elements, the W3C Geolocation API, JavaScript query selectors, CSS 2.1 and 3 properties, SVG transforms and offline applications.
The title might make you think we are throwing some kind of spoof here but we are not. Microsoft has decided to get their feet wet into the clothing business. Microsoft is launching a new line of graphic T-Shirts called “Software by Microsoft.” This is yet another marketing tactic from Microsoft and well, one more way to make more money. Sell t-shirts and if the marketing through t-shirts works then sell products. Cha Ching! The t shirts will bring back the memories from the 80s so the t shirt line might contain graphics of floppy disks, DOS, etc. We will have to wait and see how well this strategy works out for Microsoft. Microsoft = fashion giant? Who knows
Well, I personally haven’t gotten any messages or anything to confirm that it is hacked but the word is flowing around the web pretty quick so I am pretty sure its true. At this point all I know is people are getting messages that asks them to download a .exe file which then downloads a virus and am not sure at this point what the intesnsity of this virus is or what is going on. Just thought I would quick warn you that if you are a facebook user, please make sure you do not click on any messages that look suspicious. It is being said that some of the messages are being generated from your contacts profile so it might be hard to tell which one is legit at this point.
If you would like more information of course head over to twitter Facebook Hacked
