PCMag folks are pretty amazing when it comes to getting some killer lists out. Well, but thats their job and since it is their job it makes it a lot more easier ;-) . They recently released a post with 173 free software that are free and rated best among their competitors. They are all categorized so it makes it easier for you to pick and choose based on your needs. Not that you are a couch potato but if you love watching TV and especially if you are one of those who constantly likes to flip channels, here is something for you – Hillcrest Labs’ Loop motion-sensing remote. This remote pretty much works like Nintendo Wii Remote, in fact they sued Nintendo last year over Wii controller patents. Through a combination of sensors and accelerometers, the remote senses the users’ movements and reflects them on the screen. Users can click on the right or left button to then make selections.

The design of the remote looks pretty sleek and it certainly gets by with less buttons than the remote controls that we are used to seeing. Check out the video below to see if it might be something you might want in the near future, (please note that the video is from 2007 when Hillcrest Lab first introduced it but it seems like they will be releasing it sometimes soon.)

Everyone knows about “The Richter Scales.” They performed at the Crunchies 2008 and they totally nailed it once again. In their performance they talk about podcasting, cuil, twitter, yahoo, google ohh and they pick on Jerry Yang, former Yahoo! CEO as well which is always fun to see. The funniest part of the show is at the end when they change the name of the popular tech blogs/sites into a porn domain,

TechCrunch = Sex Crunch
GigaOm = GigaMoan
VentureBeat = VentureMeat
SilliconAlleyInsider = SiliconValley Inside Her

Check out the video below,

In today’s world where travel and connectivity are walk hand-in-hand, having a laptop that is both durable and effective can be the difference between success and failure.  While there are many rugged and semi-rugged notebooks on the market, price can be an issue to consider.

We recently took a look at Panasonic Toughbooks.  We found the best prices for them at Rugged Laptops starting at $1,698.  Not much more than a regular, “fragile” laptop, we took a peak at the specs:

LCD Size:

15.4? TFT WXGA (1280×800)

Processor Speed:

2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

RAM:

1GB DDRII

Hard Drive Size:

160GB, 5400RPM

Wireless:

Intel Pro Wireless 802.11 a/b/g/n

Media Drive:

Super Multi CDRW+/DVDRW+

Battery:

Li-Ion Smart w/AC Adapter

Operating System:

XP Professional

Warranty

3 Years, 1 on Batteries

Not bad when you consider that comparably priced regular laptops aren’t much more powerful.

The primary advantage of a rugged notebook is, well, they’re rugged.  Take a peak at this video and you will see that travellers, business people, and students have a need for something so strong.  They probably just don’t know how inexpensive they can be.

PC World folks are always onto something. Ever since I was young I have been turning to them for latest on technology news and information. Recently they compiled a list of gadgets that apple doesn’t have yet but would be cool if they did and I have to say some of these would really be pretty cool. Seriously a tribook would be awesome and I am sure if they came out Jason would once again jump on board and buy us all one ;-) .

Take a look at these images. The products that you see below don’t exist yet but now that PC World has given them a slight idea of what users might like, we migh be able to see them sometimes this year or may be never, who knows….

TriBook

MacBook Touch

Touchscreen Trackpad

MacBook Nano Redux

Soon the days of fancy cars will be over and we will all be fighting to add the next cool plane to our list of vehicles. The Icon A5 aircraft is solely designed for personal use and the pricing is low enough compared to some of the fancy cars out there. It is estimated that the plane will be priced at $139,000 and will be available sometimes in 2010 for purchase. The Icon A5 aircraft is a 2 seater sports aircraft that is light weight and comes with retractable landing gear which makes it capable for flying off both in land and water.

The size of the plane is small enough to fit in someone’s yard or if you have a big enough garage probably inside the garage as well. Ohh and the plane can be folded as well so you can store it easily. Take a look at these images below and specifications of this amazing technological wonder,

Most of the time when we see a Chinese product we tend to to snub our nose and this product might be one of those as well. However, China does seem to come up with some cool concept and unless we use it we can’t really conclude that its a piece of crap like most Chinese tech products.

Plug In Car MP4 player is a device that lets you listen to music in your car. The only way to make use of this device is by directly hooking it into power source inside your vehicle (ciggerette lighter). So if you don’t own a car or have every possible gadget built in your car, I guess this proves to be pretty useless. This device comes with 4GB of memory and also has an SD slot if the memory isn’t enough for your music addiction. The 1.5 inch LCD display allows you to watch videos or artist information.

If you would like to pick one up, you can get one for $29.88 by clicking here.
