It seems like everybody is jumping into the phone market. BIC the makers of disposable pens and lighters have entered the cell phone market and the phone will be available in September only in France. The phone will serve only the basic functions – make and receive calls and text messages!

Unlike BIC’s other products the phone isn’t disposable. The phone initially will have 10 minutes of talk time and once the talk time is over, buyers will have to send a registration form and wait for the phone to be activated. Weird! However, if you decide not to register you will receive a 50 minute credit to your phone and once that’s used up, customers will have to purchase vouchers through Orange network of sellers.

The BIC phone will be available in two colors – citrus orange and lime green. It will be available in France come September and will be sold at airports, gas stations, news stands, etc.
