Not that you are a couch potato but if you love watching TV and especially if you are one of those who constantly likes to flip channels, here is something for you – Hillcrest Labs’ Loop motion-sensing remote. This remote pretty much works like Nintendo Wii Remote, in fact they sued Nintendo last year over Wii controller patents. Through a combination of sensors and accelerometers, the remote senses the users’ movements and reflects them on the screen. Users can click on the right or left button to then make selections.

The design of the remote looks pretty sleek and it certainly gets by with less buttons than the remote controls that we are used to seeing. Check out the video below to see if it might be something you might want in the near future, (please note that the video is from 2007 when Hillcrest Lab first introduced it but it seems like they will be releasing it sometimes soon.)

We recently took a look at Panasonic Toughbooks. We found the best prices for them at Rugged Laptops starting at $1,698. Not much more than a regular, “fragile” laptop, we took a peak at the specs:

Not bad when you consider that comparably priced regular laptops aren’t much more powerful.

The primary advantage of a rugged notebook is, well, they’re rugged. Take a peak at this video and you will see that travellers, business people, and students have a need for something so strong. They probably just don’t know how inexpensive they can be.

However, China does seem to come up with some cool concept and unless we use it we can’t really conclude that its a piece of crap like most Chinese tech products.

Plug In Car MP4 player is a device that lets you listen to music in your car. The only way to make use of this device is by directly hooking it into power source inside your vehicle (ciggerette lighter). So if you don’t own a car or have every possible gadget built in your car, I guess this proves to be pretty useless. This device comes with 4GB of memory and also has an SD slot if the memory isn’t enough for your music addiction. The 1.5 inch LCD display allows you to watch videos or artist information.

If you would like to pick one up, you can get one for $29.88 by clicking here.

Remember the days when cell phones were only used for simple voice communication? Yeah, me neither. And cell phone companies still have plenty in store for all of us who lust after new gadgets. In no particular order, here are 5 new innovations to look forward to.

The Portable Eye

A new cell phone application allows the blind to read by snapping pictures, translating the text into speech, and reading it aloud. While the software’s $2,100 price tag is prohibitive, its proponents believe a larger customer base can make it cheaper. And if you all you seeing folk think this isn’t useful to you, think again— a prototype of the software can photograph a document in one of seven different languages and translate it into English.

The 8.1 Megapixel Cell Phone Camera

I take way to many pictures on my 2 megapixel cell phone while ignoring my pricey camera. But the new Casio Exilim cell phone camera is just as good as the real thing, sporting an 8.1-megapixel sensor, image stabilization, 9-point autofocus, a YouTube video mode, a wide-angle lens, and a 3.1 inch 480×800 OLED screen. The phone is being released in Japan next month, but the rest of us might have to wait awhile before getting our hands on the Exilim.

The Biodegradable Phone

Cell phones can be tough to recycle, so in today’s green-conscious environment it makes sense that Sony Ericsson has presented a concept phone that is completely biodegradable. The Greenheart uses bio-plastic, recyclable plastic, HTML documentation (instead of print), and a zero charger with 3.5 mW of standby power. The phone currently doesn’t have a release date.

The Cell Phone Flask

Ok, so this isn’t a real cell phone. But it is an awesomely geeky flask to hide your whiskey in. And I think that’s just as cool as any of the other innovations mentioned here.

Mobile search among many other things have become a growing trend among cell phone users. According to Comscore, cell phone users that used their phones to search information on the web has increased by 68% in US and 38% in the UK compared to 2007. With more and more people adopting smart phones and with expanded 3G penetration the number of users who use mobile search has more than doubled. Mobile search is one of the fastest growing trend among cell phone users.

Rumors are going around that T-Mobil might be gearing up to launch G2 pretty soon in the near future. As of this point it is just a rumor but we are pretty sure G2 is in the making and will launch soon. Can’t say if it will launch on the exact date as rumors has it but we can almost guarantee that will be out sometimes early next year. Here are a few things that we found related to G2 from our source link.

note : these specs are taken directly from the source. please click on the source link for more information,

The product specs on the T-Mobile G2 that CellPhoneSignal ran weren’t actually all that far off, just the date was completely wrong.

The device is a full touch device and there is no physical QWERTY keyboard.

There is still a trackball at the bottom.

The launch was delayed from late February to April due to software issues.

We’ve been informed this device will actually launch on another global carrier besides T-Mobile as well, though they didn’t say who, and they said that the G1, G2, G3, etc., names are trademarks of T-Mobile and the other carrier would have a different product name for the device other than G2.

If you read the last bullet you can see that it seems like they are planning on launching G2 with another global carrier. If they launch G2 with another golbal carrier they might have to change the name but it would certainly give them a larger market.
