Here is another cool Twitter client for you guys to try out. Twalala is a service that lets you control what you see and what you don’t see on twitter. One of the things that I have been really enjoying about these twitter clients and services are the fact that they are so simple and minimal, just like Twitter itself. There are no bells and whistles and these clients do exactly what they are supposed to do, no fancy stuff.
Anyway twalala is a pretty cool service that lets you filter texts or hashtags that you don’t want to see. There are times when one of the users you are following might be talking about politics, and you might be someone who just doesn’t care to see anything related to politics, at least on twitter. This is when this service comes in handy. You can add these text on twalala and any text containing the word “politics” will be invisible to you. Pretty neat! You can also mute users if you decide not to read their rants every once in a while. This is useful for those times when you want to keep following someone without having to read their views on a particular matter. Simply mute them and their tweets will be invisible and when you are ready to connect and read their tweets again, just “unmute” them.
Login as usual is through your twitter account. I am sure a lot of you will find this service pretty useful. Let us know what you think of it.

As promised starting this week we will be featuring twitter application and services related to twitter. The first one that we would like to cover this week is Twellow - a twitter search directory. Although I am a pretty active twitter user I am not pretty heavy into twitter search and all that stuff. However, I do use a few twitter related services and applications. I am not sure if there are other services like Twellow out there, but this one certainly did catch my attention.
Twellow is like the “yellow page” of twitter users. It is a directory where all twitter user are listed based on their interest or profession. The users are categorized based on certain words that are found on their profile. If you are looking to follow people within a certain niche, profession or sports I think this service can be of tremendous help.
Although the site’s design looks pretty “oldish” it is pretty easy to use. You can either use the search box to find someone based on their profession and so on or use the listing which is called “Twellow Categories.”
Once you hit the “search” button the results are shown based on popularity. The users who has the most number of followers are shown on the very top and so on. You can login to the site using your twitter account. I logged into Twellow using my twitter account and upon searching I found that most people that I am following are still shown with a follow button. This kind of makes it hard to analyze who you are following and who you have yet to follow if you have a large number of followers and following.
All in all I personally think this is a pretty helpful tool for twitter users. If you are looking to follow users within a certain group or niche this certainly makes the task easier. If you know of any other services that are similar to this please feel free to share with us.

I know the Nethackz staff have been saying that we are trying to keep it low when it comes to Twitter, but it is just impossible with everything that is somehow related to Twitter on the web. They are literally growing like mushrooms. Twitters apps, Twitter clones and everything else. If you are an active Twitter user you know exactly what I am talking about.
With the death of Pownce, more users will be looking for other microblogging platforms and twitter definitely will be the one they choose. However, a new service seems to have been quite popular among microbloging fans. 12Seconds is a service that lets users explore another aspect of blogging – micropodcasting. Yup, that’s exactly what it is “micropodcasting.” Just like Twitter, 12Second allows users to share their views but instead of text limitations you get time limitation and you actually get to be seen and not just read.
I recently joined this site and all in all I have been enjoying it. I haven’t been using the site actively yet but I think besides Twitter this will be the one I will be quite active on. It all depends on how popular they get and what kind of benefits I can get out of it in terms of exposure. Remember, everything is a number. The more the better.
12Second gives you exactly 12seconds to say what you have to say. I like the whole Twitter’s text limit and 12Second’s time limit cause if you can say more in less, that is definitely helpful. It also allows you to embed your 12 second video so you can share it on your blog and what not. Here is a video I made the day I joined 12second.
By the way, I had a few beers down before I made the video so it is kind of goofy ,
One more thing, the service is currently available only through invitation. If you think this might be something you would like to check out, please leave your email address in your comments and we will send you an invite. Please make sure to leave your email address in this format : email(at)ritubpant(dot)com.

Doctors, lawyers, accountant are some of the careers that most dream of. However, sometimes these aren’t exactly what a person is bound to be or choose as a career. With newer platforms and career opportunities, people have developed skills that allows them to work from home and still earn a decent income.
We at Nethackzthink it is necessary to point out these careers every once in a while. Also with Twitter competing with the mainstream media we thought we would choose one career and tie it in with Twitter. An emerging career with an emerging social networking platform! Today we have chosen web/graphic design as an emerging career. Here are 50 amazing web/graphic designers that you can follow on twitter and learn from them and about them. Read the rest of this entry

Today I came across a site that seems to be very helpful for both customers and companies. I personally haven’t tried the service yet although I did sign up for future use. The service that I am talking about is called GetSatisfaction. As the name suggests its all about satisfying you as an existing customer or a potential customer. This site allows you to share your ideas or suggestions to a participating company thus building a relationship between consumers and companies. It acts as a community that works for the community.
Some of the companies that participate on this site are Adobe, Twitter, Dell, BBC among many other well known names. This clearly shows that GetSatisfaction is getting quit a bit of buzz around the web considering such big names are participating on it. Use of the service is pretty easy. Creating an account is easy and includes usual information such as username, email etc. You can also use your open id to sign in or sign in with your Microsoft Live account. Once you are signed in you can choose a company or product using the search bar or click on the companies tab on the top and choose one from there. Once you have chosen the company or product you will see a new window which allows you to either ask a question, share an idea, report a problem or of course give them a praise.
All in all the central idea of Get Satisfaction is pretty neat. A central platform for end users and companies to connect directly regarding issues and suggestions. If you have a question regarding a product or service you should give this service a try. Looking at the company page it seems like they have quite a few company participating so you might be able to connect with the one that you need to.
If you try it out let us know your thoughts on it.

We all know that the digg community has been pretty frustrated with all the recent bannings that has been going on recently. I think this has started effecting a group of members known as the “baby diggers” that are largely unnoticed by other diggers. Today a baby digger by the name Lance Knight Rodriguez brings out the message to all the diggers and Kevin Rose from his community.
We would like to thank Lance for bringing into attention about the existence of “baby diggers.” I am sure we will be seeing a lot more of Lance in the coming weeks and months as he seems to speak his mind out loud and clear.
Thanks Neal for the video. Hopefully Digg will listen to Lance as he seems to do a better job than you

These are no-brainers written by top-tier social media people like Maki, Tamar Weinberg, and Neil Patel. If you haven’t visited any of these, stop reading write now and check them out. When you’re done, come back and read about the less-known social media blogs, the “hidden gems” on the blogosphere.
Here they are, in no particular order. Read them and learn:

People, in general, are social (or soshal, depending on how you spell it). We like to interact with others, especially those who have shared interests. Whether in person, on the internet, or both, human connections make us feel whole.

Just a quick plug on a new social media site that is geared towards financial news, ideas and tips. During high times of economic turmoil and financial distress the launch of this social media platform is a great treat. The site already seems to be quite popular among web users and financial savvy people as the upcoming sections are crawling with new stories every minute. I personally love the idea and have already started using this service. At this point I just wanted to quick let you know about Tipd since it seems to be the talk of the web at the moment. Once we get a little more hands on and see how the site grows we will provide you with a detailed review on this new service. But as of now it looks very promising and I would suggest you start using this social media platform, either to stay on top of the financial news or to promote your content if you are in this particular niche.

Everyone who uses Digg regularly knows that certain sites have a tendancy to hit the front page often. Very often. Others might get a few hundred Diggs and never make it to the Hot in All section of upcoming.
Digg, despite their claims, has whitelisted certain sites and autoburied others. It’s a fact that they continue to deny despite mounds of evidence to the contrary. How can sites like TorrentFreak, Cracked, and PopularMechanics have the vast majority of their stories hit the front page? Are they just THAT incredible at creating content?
How can sites like HuffingtonPost, Arstechnica, and Telegraph hit multiple times a day with fewer Diggs than new sites that have quality content? Are they just THAT breaking and original that they always get the scoops? Read the rest of this entry
