Here we go, talking about Twitter again. It is just hard not to talk about Twitter anymore. No matter what we do we just can’t seem to avoid Twitter. However, today we are not going to show you a cool Twitter app or something useless related to it. Today we are bringing you something totally wicked that was created by Justin Wickett - turning your lights on and off using twitter.
So what exactly do you need to use Twitter as a remote control to control the lights? Not a whole lot ,
- Insteon switch that you write to a computer with internet access
- Use your cell phone to tell twitter what light you want turned on or off.
That’s it, pretty easy. The only thing I am wondering is what would happen if a lot of people actually started doing this. Imagine your twitter stream with messages such as “lights on” and “lights off.” I don’t think it is very practical at least not yet, but nevertheless it is a cool invention.
