It’s time Google rolled something new. If there is a silence for too long from Google, it kind of gets worrisome. Google recently opened a new website “Knol” which allows users to share their expertise under their byline. The authors of the knols can take credit for their writing, provide credentials, and elicit peer reviews and comments. Search engines will index knols and will rank on search engines as any other sites would based on popularity and other factors. Authors also have the convenience of collaborating with other authors in creating a knol. Unlike Wikipedia, Knol focuses on individuals or groups of authors which are updated by users and edited behind scenes. And let’s not forget, as usual google will allow users to run ads on their entries and will share income with them.
We can just wait and see if this becomes one of google’s “Hits” or “Flops.” What do you think of this new service from Google?
