Over the past month, I have dove deep into server software, namely the open source variety. I’ve played with everything from Ubuntu Server to CentOS and Fedora.
Obviously, when you spend the time and the effort getting a web server (or a file server or a mail server) up and running, you want it to do some cool stuff! In other words, you need software.
Well, after scouring the web, I found a lot of disparate information about cool open source server apps you can run at home to make your life easier. Whether it’s bookmarking software, a personal RSS reader, or whatever - we’re going to show you how to set that stuff up.
The bottom line is Google is fantastic - but it’s Google. You can only trust them with so much information. And besides, if you’re like me, you were spending hundreds of dollars every month on software as a service apps like Freshbooks, Aweber, and others…
Why, when you can run and host all your own stuff??
After all - NetHackz was always meant to be just that.. Hacking the web.
