If any of you have been using Pownce as a microblogging platform to share your musings with your friends and family, I am sure you have heard the news – Pownce is dead. The Pownce team has decided to close “the shop” at Pownce and shut down the service altogether. It is kind of sad to see an entrepreneur’s dream go down like that but I am sure they have something big coming up in near future.
The Pownce team has joined Six Apart and I am sure they will have something better and something that might be able to compete. When Pownce was launched it had quite a buzz in the beginning but later on it died because everyone went nuts about Twitter. And to tell you the truth Twitter definitely is hands down winner when it comes to microblogging. When you get the breaking news on Twitter before the mainstream media you know they have got it going for themselves.
Anyway, Pownce will be shutting down their service on December 15th so if you are using Pownce and your account goes “pooof” on the 15th, you know why
