Wow! Its just crazy. Its amazing how many people rely on gmail and how many people are actually using it at any given point in time. Today when gmail went down, the entire web was in chaos. Especially the twitter community. As soon as people found out that gmail wasn’t working Twitter got flooded with messages regarding gmail not being available.

As I write this post gmail and gtalk are both back up for me.However, I see for some its still not working. As soon as gmail went down I ran a search on twitter with the keyword “Gmail Down” and the result was just crazy…simply amazing. Check it out here.

The point of this post is to point out that it’s just crazy that we rely so much on a service ( especially google ) that even a 10-20 minute down time creates such an extreme panic among us netizens.

Anyway, hopefully gmail doesn’t go down again or else the web might just come to a halt. We will remember the day as “The Day Gmail Went Down.”
