Twitter Is Microblogging, 12Seconds Is MicroPodcasting

by Ritu

I know the Nethackz staff have been saying that we are trying to keep it low when it comes to Twitter, but it is just impossible with everything that is somehow related to Twitter on the web. They are literally growing like mushrooms. Twitters apps, Twitter clones and everything else. If you are an active Twitter user you know exactly what I am talking about.

With the death of Pownce, more users will be looking for other microblogging platforms and twitter definitely will be the one they choose. However, a new service seems to have been quite popular among microbloging fans. 12Seconds is a service that lets users explore another aspect of blogging – micropodcasting. Yup, that’s exactly what it is “micropodcasting.” Just like Twitter, 12Second allows users to share their views but instead of text limitations you get time limitation and you actually get to be seen and not just read.

I recently joined this site and all in all I have been enjoying it. I haven’t been using the site actively yet but I think besides Twitter this will be the one I will be quite active on. It all depends on how popular they get and what kind of benefits I can get out of it in terms of exposure. Remember, everything is a number. The more the better.

12Second gives you exactly 12seconds to say what you have to say. I like the whole Twitter’s text limit and 12Second’s time limit cause if you can say more in less, that is definitely helpful. It also allows you to embed your 12 second video so you can share it on your blog and what not. Here is a video I made the day I joined 12second.

By the way, I had a few beers down before I made the video so it is kind of goofy ,

One more thing, the service is currently available only through invitation. If you think this might be something you would like to check out, please leave your email address in your comments and we will send you an invite. Please make sure to leave your email address in this format : email(at)ritubpant(dot)com.

This site really does rock.. It took me about 5 seconds to figure out what the hell it was for but after that I was addicted. 12 seconds is about the attention span of most digg users/stumblers so there’s no doubt it will be successful :0)

@Jason : I like it. But who gave you the impression that digg users attention span lasts only 12 seconds? I think I have a pretty good attention span that lasts for quite a while ;-)

You may want to check out http://yonkly.com

It’s the first niche-microblogging platform with twitter integration.

Best part. They’re a bootstrapped, small team! Go underdogs!
