Wishlist Member Plugin – Official Site

I’ve been building stuff on WordPress for the past 5 or so years.  In fact, I really think it was a blessing in disguise.  When I started blogging, I spent a few days on BlogSpot and realized that it was way to limited for my tastes and discovered WordPress…

Thank my lucky stars!

Anyway, there was a time when I tried to set up all kinds of crazy stuff…  Membership sites.  Squeeze pages.  Contact management systems.  All with weird plugins that you needed to spend weeks trying to configure.  It was a nightmare.

The simple act of taking a paypal payment through a WordPress site, way back then, was a treacherous task!

About 6 months ago, I decided that it was time to set up my first membership site.  I had heard of this plugin called Wishlist Member and thought I’d try it out…

At first, I scoffed at the idea of buying a plugin…  “WordPress Plugins are supposed to be free,” I kept telling myself.

But then I started looking at all the features of Wishlist Member and all the integrations, and I gave in.

All I can say is, wow!  How easy was that!

This is my attempt at a Wishlist Member Review…  No holds barred.  Telling you exactly what I think of it!

Wishlist Member Review – What Is It?

The Wishlist Member Plugin is a membership plugin for WordPress that runs a self-contained membership site.  All the reporting, user management, payment and membership levels are contained right in your WordPress Admin Dashboard.

Once you upload it and set it up, you get the opportunity to customize it, using Wishlist’s videos for support.

Setting it up is as easy as telling it what levels you want your members to be, picking and choosing the content that you want to give them access to, and setting up your payment engine.

As of the time of this writing, it integrates flawlessly with 1ShoppingCart, Clickbank, Aweber and a bunch of other processors.  I generally only use those three.

That admin panel gives you every control you’ll need in managing the community – something that a lot of other ‘membership scripts’ like aMember lack!

Wishlist Member Review – What I Like

The reason I use the Wishlist Member Plugin is simple – it’s easy to set up and deploy.  The process is super easy.  Upload the plugin, set the content you want to give people access to, and you’re done!

Taking payments and managing autoresponders…  That’s all a function of the third party services you have set up, but it integrates flawlessly without any stupid API keys or advanced coding.

Wishlist Member Review – What I Don’t Like

One bad thing about Wishlist Member is that it doesn’t have great support from InfusionSoft.

I, for one, really like the way InfusionSoft tags your members and prospects and prefer it’s console to Aweber, but Wishlist Member doesn’t like it much.

For most, that’s ok – including me.  I generally segment my lists inside Aweber (which is cheaper to maintain anyway!)

Wishlist Member Review – Overall Thoughts

If you’re thinking about running a membership site on WordPress, Wishlist Member is a must have.  It’s simple to set up, simple to take payments through and integrates with most of the major third party platforms that you’re probably already using.

It’s a definite tool in my playbook and I recommend it very highly!
